The Daily Jolt is based on a website called Amherst Central, which was created by Amherst students and originally existed on the Amherst College server. The site grew and expanded as did its user base, and became "The Daily Jolt" about a year later. Since then, sites like it have been popping up on lots of college campuses all across America.
